Health Policy Memo

This health policy memo shows professional communication principles by the use of clear language that is concise as well as organized structure that includes a purpose, key message, action steps, and outcomes. Although the tone is professional, it is also approachable for someone who may not have strong health literacy and it can build trust within community members, in this case the therapists and counselors within the community. Strategic alignment is demonstrated by connecting the problem of underserved communities not seeking help because of the stigmas surrounding it with actionable solutions such as free counseling sessions. Avoiding jargon and using plain language was important to explain counseling in more simple terms because that word alone can be scary. This will make sure that the message being portrayed is understandable for those with little to no knowledge about mental health. Organizational clarity is shown through a numbered list and step-by-step actions so that this makes the information provided easy to follow and implement. Lastly, the inclusion of culturally relevant visuals helps reduce stigma, increase the use of mental health services, and improve the understanding of mental health and getting help.
